More respect to the ladys please.

26. helmikuuta 2007 12:19

I find it difficult to respect the favour of the male part in a couple, when I look into the results and judgement.

In the last international competitions, I have been to, I see a total favour to judge good male dancers well, no matter how bad the lady is.

On the other hand, I have seen top-class female dancers who deserve great respect for there abilities. The judges do not favour a good female up to a reasonable level unless they are match with a very good male.

How can the judges mark good males so well, regardless the lady, when they can´t do the same, when the lady is good.

It is a shame to the dance in general, and especially for the very good ladys that truly deserves more respect.

Give the ladys more respect - please

i am absolutely agree !!! i am teach classic dance and whan a latin couple come to me, i want make the same work to male and female, i don't think to prefer only the male because the dance is unbalanced and for me is good to see the same lavel and not a good male and a female so so.

I agree and it seems to be becoming much more commonplace for this to happen. Personally I believe that the dancers should only be judged as a "couple" not on the strengths of either one.

Further proof that the claim of  "Gender Parity" is false.

It might be "political" if I mention who made the claimBig Smile

As you and others have recorded here lady dancers receive a bad deal and are not treated as equals on the competition floor.

Mr. Carlos Freitag writes "We represent one of the most graceful sports, where men and women compete on equal terms, and 100% gender parity"

It is not true.

Not how I would have described it but it is true that I want to see a more honest dance world  and where things described by "judgefemales"  do not happen.  I do not want to turn this into a "political" thread .so I will only say that if it is wrong to want a better dance world then I plead guilty.

In a sport where the male typically 'leads' and the lady 'follows' - it is not surprising that the male talent is perceived to set the upper bound for the standard of the partnership as a whole - i.e. regardless of the level of dancing of the lady, her performance can only be seen to be as good as her male partner's performance. So, unfortunately, she is 'limited' in this sense.

However, I think the good thing about a 'partnership' is that both people can work together and motivate each other to improve. Even in a slightly unbalanced partnership, where the female may be more experienced than the male, or vice-versa, the experienece of one can motivate, encourage and assist the other to improve to a higher level for the partnership as a whole. Of course, the trick is to be able to work together effectively to make this happen!

So you also agree that the claim of "Gender Parity" is dishonest.
